Adrienne & Scott Nu-lyweds

Adrienne & Scott and I go way back now (photographically speaking), after getting to know them as the bridal party in Sandy & Trevor’s wedding, then at their super fun engagement session…and now at their own wedding. It’s been amazing being part of the process leading up to their big day, and developing a new great friendship along the way.

Here are a few photos from their day. Several more can be found on the Wink Photography Facebook page, in slideshow form. Click here to see the slideshow.

Coming down the aisle with her dad. Their gazes both proudly fixed directly on Scott.

The open air Queen Elizabeth Park Pavilion backlight provides almost a glow around the ceremony.

Beaming! One of my faves of the day.

The other angle. One of the many benefits to having a fantastic wedding photographer as your 2nd shooter. These are the types of moments I love to see when I look through Andrea’s shots.

My rockstars.

Took a few moments to grab a few shots under the Granville Street Bridge before heading in to their intimate reception at Nu Restaurant.

One of the many products I’m excited to show off from Adrienne & Scott’s wedding. Their gorgeous guestbook was a hit. Custom designed, full of the best shots from their engagement session… now full of memories. More to come on these new stylish options later.

Gotta love the first dance looks. Makes me melt every time.

I just want to thank Adrienne & Scott for being such awesome people throughout this whole wedding planning experience.  It’s easy to see why your families and friends had such heartfelt things to say, you are truly loved.

I look forward to many more evenings to come, with my new wine & long chat friends.

Jennifer’s Qmunity

Jennifer came to me a couple of weeks ago, through my dear friend and Communications Guru Paul Nixey (www.nixey.ca), looking to have some professional headshots taken. She’s the Executive Director of what used to be The Centre, and has now completed a major style overhaul to become “Qmunity: BC’s Queer Resource Centre”. Jennifer is simply a fantastic human being, and a major part of this great resource that offers community services and programs to celebrate and support the gay community. www.qmunity.ca

We definitely didn’t stay serious long. Every 2nd or 3rd shot looks like this, or is blurry from me laughing too hard.

Jennifer was nervous at first, but worked it. About halfway through, she had to devise a way to work through the giggles, and would count to three before  “…..aaaaaaannnnd BACK!”…and immediately turned the thoughtful serious pose back on.

Taking a break to excitedly show Paul a classic Steve Winwood album she found while rummaging through the used records. (I use the term “classic” loosely).

Gotta love the late evening sunlight.

Thanks Jennifer! I had a blast.

Jen & Reid sittin’ in a tree…

When I met Jen & Reid for the first time last summer at our consultation, we clicked right away. I loved that they were joking with each other and with me right from the start, and that Reid was fully engaged in the planning (mind the pun). Sometimes guys think all this “wedding stuff” isn’t for them, but they’re missing out on a process that absorbs usually a year or two of a couple’s life together….so why not have fun with it?

Anyway, when Jen emailed me about a half hour after our meeting to tell me they didn’t need to think it over any more, I was thrilled. Which brings us to just a few weeks ago, they requested we do their shoot at Richard McBride Elementary in New West where they first met. And now years later live just across the street in their home together.

If there are any nerves for them to deal with on the wedding day, I’m confident Reid will conquer them with smooches and silly faces.

Not a lot of direction required when a couple just giggles together effortlessly.

My favorite little series from the day. Like I wasn’t even there.

And, of course, it’s not physically possible to walk by a swing set without hopping on.

Look at those killer eyes! Good thing I had my 50mm 1.4 “eyelash popper” lens with me.

And the sports fans ended the shoot with a little team spirit. Jen’s still smiling here ’cause the Canucks didn’t get knocked out the playoffs til that night…ouch.

Baby Love

I made some time a few weeks ago to get some more shots of my adorable nephew. I realized I hadn’t made a point of bringing my Canon 5d with me to their place since he was born. Even since this shoot it seems like he’s grown SO much in such a short time, but it’s nice to be able to document the little changes along the way.

The main plan for the day was to finally get a few shots of the new family together in their element.

I know I haven’t been around a lot of babies in my life, but I still just can’t get over those tiny little toes!

It’s impossible to resist kissing that little baby-smell forehead.

Time to plan a 3 month shoot in just a couple more weeks! They grow up so fast….sigh.

Michelle & Sven vs. Gastown

Michelle & Sven were referred to me by a lovely lady named Jessika, whose wedding I photographed back in May 2007 (happy anniversary!), and has since started her own wedding planning business: Diva On a Dime Design

img_4558bwsml

Michelle & Sven will be getting married at Barkley Brook Gardens in Langley, so agreed that going with something a little more urban for their E-session would be a great balance.

Their quiet sweet way together really shows through in photos. I love that they were so comfortable being themselves with me.
