I really can not say enough good things about Louisa & Chris.

Sometimes I go to those perfect 1st meetings where an hour flies by and we realize we haven’t even really talked about photography yet. That was my first meeting with Louisa & Chris. We clicked right away and I knew from the start that this was a wedding I wanted to be involved in. And since we first met last winter, Louisa has become one of my biggest cheerleaders and regular blog followers. Being a self-employed artist as well, she knows how much it means to have people truly appreciate your work. These two have a serious love for frisbee golf (so much so that it’s where Chris proposed!)  and decided to incorporate that into their session. Love it!

I love the love in this photo. This is not a pose I would ever ask people to do, but it’s one of those in between moments that I feel lucky to capture.

Then we decided to pop over to Jericho for a moody Vancouver beach day.

These two are truly best friends in love, the kind of couple that reminds me why I love my job.

Loryne & Josh, like most people new to being in front of the camera, were nervous about the engagement shoot when we discussed it at our first meeting. But on the day, they showed up dressed to kill with the attitudes of supermodels. We were able to have a great time with the session, which is always my main goalbecause these shoots should never feel like work.

As a result, this post may be a little photo heavy. I just couldn’t stop myself.

What a great day! Have I mentioned I love what I do?

These two possess one of my favourite qualities: they don’t take themselves, or anything for that matter, too seriously. Which is very valuable when going through planning a wedding. Sarah even kept a clever blog of the ideas and plans that led up to their recent wedding, which I’ll be blogging soon.

But first, here’s the lovely fall afternoon I spent with Sarah & Rob at Granville Island.

Remember I mentioned the lack of seriousness. Rob often likes to spontaneously take it to a new level.

Sarah’s pure enjoyment of it, and tendency to play along, is one of the things that makes them perfect for eachother.

We managed to squeeze in Kelsi & Mark’s engagement session just 5 short days before their wedding day. Normally I like to do them a couple months in advance, but this worked out great because everything they’d practiced was still fresh in their minds. Not that these two needed any coaching, though. The ability to be silly yet sweet together always makes for a very smooth couples shoot.

We’ve since shot their wedding, which occured the day of the unforgettable thunder & lighting storms. They took it all in stride and had an amazing party regardless. I’ll be posting those photos within the next few days, so they can take a peek while on their vacation.

These two laugh so wildly together… it’s a trait that is invaluable as a couple.

The nice thing about Steveston is the variety of locations all in one place. Plus, no crowds to deal with on a hot summer evening.

This is the aftermath of Mark kicking Kelsi in the head as he tried to swing his leg over her….realizing he wasn’t as flexible as he thought. Luckily no permanent damage done 5 days before the wedding, so we were able to have a good laugh about it.

And then, to our horror, we saw this. I’m pretty sure these dogs all had perfectly good legs.

Eden & Jeff’s September wedding is going to be out in Langley surrounded by greenery, so being the urban hipsters they are, we decided to go a little more gritty for the E-session. They first met at the Blarney Stone pub (love it!), so what better spot to start out their engagement session.

We managed to find a couple of unoccupied spots in Blood Alley. Luckily these two were so easy going, that even the crowd forming didn’t phase them a bit.

Did I mention these two were up for anything?

My favourite.

I like to leave in the photos that would normally be considered “outtakes”. Says a lot about a couple, and clearly we had some fun.

And back to glamour.

Awesome day, guys! Can’t wait to have a great time again on the wedding day….just a little more dressed up.
